Cher, 74, has regretted to his Twitter followers after a recent tweet about George Floyd in the middle of his murder trial sparked controversy.
The “Believe” singer spoke on social media after posting a tweet about the ongoing trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek. He is arrested for killing an African-American citizen on May 25, 2020.
The music star was heavily criticized on Twitter Friday night when he said he was watching Derek Chauvin’s murder trial and wondering if he could have helped George Floyd if he had been in Minneapolis at the time.
I was talking to Mom, and she said, ‘I saw the case of the policeman who killed George Floyd, and I yelled,’ Cher addressed in a deleted tweet. I said, ‘Mom, I know this is going on. She said, If I had been there, it would have helped.
The provocative video shows Floyd being handcuffed and stifling for more than nine minutes with the suffocating pressure on Agent Chauvin’s knee, who detained him for using an apparently bogus $ 20 bill to buy cigarettes.
The death of an African-American has sparked protests in the United States and other parts of the world against racial injustice and police brutality.
Prosecutors are trying to show that the actions of Chauvin, with 19 years of experience in the police force, led to the death of Floyd, in the street, who was lying face down, regularly saying, I can’t breathe.

Hours later, the star returned to Twitter to apologize to anyone who already bothered with his words.
In his message, he said that the plea came after talking to a friend about it. With my friend Karen just got on the phone. I told him what happened and realized that you could make people angry and hurt if you don’t know everything is ‘inappropriate’ to say. The Oscar winner said on his Twitter account. I know people apologize when they are bound, but I’m sorry.
Cher is closely monitoring the murder case and has been tweeting his thoughts about it for the past week.
In a tweet posted on March 31, 2021, he praised witnesses who testified about what they saw during the more than 9 minutes that Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck.
Chauvin, who has been out on bail, faces 40 years in prison if sentenced to the most stringent charge. He is charged with second-degree murder. The other three former police officers included alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane, Tou Thao – this year will be heard individually.
