Francisco Lindor, Mets agree to 10 years, Contract Extension $ 341M

MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reported that the contract will start in 2022 and therefore does not include Lindor’s $ 22.3 million in 2021. According to a New York Post report, Joel Sherman, will also accept a non-sale clause, with The Athletic’s Tim Britton reporting that the contract is out of date.
As the opening day draws to a close, Passan raised some issues when he reported that both sides were not “close” to the agreement:
According to SYY Andy Martino, the Mets have put a 10-year promise, $ 325 million on the table, while Tim Healey of Newsday reported that Lindor has objected to asking for $ 385 million over a 12-year period.
This looks like it could be a real situation where Mets and Lindor meet somewhere in between. The team apparently wanted to keep the All-Star shortstop four times, and his co-worker was so insignificant that it was doubtful whether his desire to stay in New York was genuine.
Both Lindor and club owner Steven Cohen were encouraged to sign a contract as soon as possible.
While he may not be the highest paid player in the league, the Mets offer was a good indication of his value on the pitch. And we were not sure if anything better could be expected of him in a free organization.

Passan set an Opening Day deadline to get things done, thus leaving hours ahead for the Mets to start things on Thursday against the Washington Nationals at 7:09 p.m. ET. Now, Lindor’s future will no longer be a news line running around Mets.
The 2022 section of free agents is loaded on a short base, with Javier Baez, Carlos Correa, Corey Seager and Trevor Story all hitting the open market.
Between Lindor and Fernando Tatis Jr. (14 years, $ 340 million), the level of travel talent has been set for this position.
