New Hampshire youth rescue West West boy injured in ATV crash caught in TikTok

As it turns out, TikTok can be purposeful without having to enjoy funny videos and learn the best dance techniques. For one West Virginia boy, it was a TikTok user who worked for about 800 miles that was called to save his life.

Trent Jarrett, 12, was crying loudly at the speed of an ATV on Sunday when the car suddenly crashed and the camera started to fall. Luckily for Jarrett, on the other side of the screen was young Caden Cotnoir from New Hampshire, who stepped in to help Jarrett where he was most in need, according to WBTS, NBC’s ambassador to Boston.

Breathing in breath and asking for help from 911, Jarrett heard livestream viewers say he couldn’t breathe. He asked them to call the 10-digit number he repeated, hoping someone would be willing to help.

“That was very difficult, to listen to him just pray that someone would help him,” Cotnoir, 13, said in an interview with the news channel.

He immediately jumped into action and showed the video to his parents to help him. His stepfather, the head of police in Gilmanton, New Hampshire, helped Cotnoir write and call Jarrett’s 10-digit telephone number following an accident. The call successfully led Cotnoir to contact Jarrett’s parents, who found their son on the side of the road within 20 minutes. He was trapped under a four-wheeled ATV and was struggling to breathe, but was unharmed, according to WBTS.

Grateful Jarrett and his family called Cotnoir back that night to thank him, giving him money as a thank-you gift. For a young person, helping someone in need was a perfect accomplishment.

“I mean, I’m just happy to be able to help,” Cotnoir told reporters. “That’s all.”
