Police are searching for the attacker in a hate crime attack on a 65-year-old Asian woman

Asian woman who was punched and kicked in the center of Manhattan on Monday by an attacker who allegedly made anti-Asian statements, according to police.
The incident – which comes at a time when New York City and the nation have seen an increase in reports of attacks on Asians – was filmed and released by the NYPD, which also released photographs of the man and an anonymous video of the incident.
In a statement sent to the media, police said they were “requesting public assistance to locate the next wanted person in connection with a hate crime attack.”
The NYPD press release does not refer to the man as a suspect.
Police said the man “first kicked the victim several times in the head before fleeing the area,” which is evident in the headlines. The NYPD tells CNN that the attacker allegedly shouted insults following “you’re not here!” NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force in the investigation.
The victim, according to police, was critically injured and was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital in a stable condition.
Police Commissioner Dermot Shea speaking to CNN’s NY1 affiliates on Tuesday called the latest attack “extremely disruptive.”
“It’s really disgusting when you see this video,” he said. We invite everyone in New York, anyone with information, to post a very good picture of the person we want to talk to who has been seen walking, and just try to understand … and you can’t, “he said.
Police said the incident took place in front of 360 West 43rd Street, which is the address of the apartment owned by the Brodsky Organization.
This video, which looks from a beautiful camera location inside the apartment, appears to show viewers not responding to the attack. The Brodsky Organization issued a statement saying in part that “workers who witnessed the attack have been suspended pending a joint investigation with their union.”
The Brodsky Organization also says it is “also working to identify a third party supplier at the time of the incident so that appropriate action can be taken.”
The organization “condemns all forms of discrimination, racism, xenophobia and violence against Asian American communities,” the statement said.
